Dr. Paul Hungler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Queen’s University and member of the Ingenuity Labs. Prior to joining Queen’s, he was an Assistant Professor at the Royal Military College of Canada. Before pursuing graduate studies, Paul was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and gained valuable engineering experience in a variety of leadership roles. From 2014-2017 he was responsible for Learning Technologies for the Canadian Armed Forces and the use of Virtual and Augmented Reality for individual training. His research at Queen’s focuses on developing the next generation of simulation and is focused on Intelligent, Dynamically Adaptive Simulation. This features the use of Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) in several domains including engineering, education and medicine. He collaborates on this work with the Queen’s School of Medicine Clinical Simulation Centre.
Paul has a teaching focused position at Queen’s, with one of his main responsibilities being development of new courses and programs for the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences. In 2022, he was awarded the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science Innovation in Teaching Award and the Principal’s Educational Technology Award.
